Are you looking to purchase a new garment steamer? If you haven’t tried it before and it’s your first time buying, there are a few things you must consider in order to get the best deal for your money. To help you get started, here are a few of the things that you should be asking yourself.

What are you going to use it for? Do you intend to use the clothes steamer as a replacement for your iron? If that is the case then you would need one that’s going to be powerful enough to handle a load of clothes. For some people, a handheld steamer is enough to do the trick but if you live in a home where there are more than two people then you might want to get something bigger. Luckily, commercial steamers come in different sizes thus providing you with plenty of options to choose from.

If you intend to use the unit during work trips to help keep your clothes in shape, a travel steamer would certainly be the best choice. Travel steamers are handy and can be kept conveniently inside your bag. They might be small but they are certainly efficient at removing all the wrinkles from your suit or evening dress. The best bit is the fact that regardless of the fabric, it is very safe to use and will not cause any damage.

But what if you’re going to use the steamer for businesses purposes? Well, for situations such as those, you would certainly need to go for a professional garment steamer. These units are great if you have a clothing store and need to steam numerous clothing at any given day. Using a steamer instead of an iron would definitely make things easier for you and cut your steaming time in half thus giving you more time to focus on the other things that you need to be doing.

Now, let’s talk about the price. Your average hand held clothes steamer would cost you around $30 to $60 depending on the brand and the features it comes with. Typically, your purchase would include some accessories as well as a travel case for mini steamers. The wattage for these units can vary from 200 to 1,000 watts. The higher the wattage, the more steam there is but it also consumes more electricity so do make note of that.

A professional garment steamer, on the other hand, can cost around $120 to $200. It can go higher depending on the size of the unit, the features and the brand. Most of the time, these units would have settings that you can adjust so that you can work with any fabric regardless of how strong or sensitive it might be. Large capacity clothing steamers are usually 1,200 to 2,000 watt machines and come with accessories such as a press pad which should prevent you from accidentally burning your hands.

So there you have it, just some of the things that one ought to know about the different kinds of steamers and what they should be looking for when buying one.

Are you always traveling? Well, if you are a businessperson who often finds him or herself packing suits and other sensitive garments for a trip, you would know just how troublesome taking out the wrinkles from the can be. This is why many travelers rely on having travel steamers with them to help smooth out the problem. These steamers are more compact when compared to the average handheld steamer thus making it more convenient to pack in your travel bag. Now, you might be wondering, why choose a steamer when there are traveling irons available as well. Well, steamers are still more convenient to use and are more efficient when it comes to taking out wrinkles thus making the better option.

Of course, if you’re traveling for business, you would want to make sure that you always look as impressive as possible. Another benefit of using a travel steamer is that it would spare you the trouble of worrying about the way your clothes look. Some people opt to simply open the shower and steam their clothes through it, whilst this can be effective, do note that it would also allow moisture to seep into your clothes and as such, it is not always a good idea. You can opt to get the hotel to steam your clothes for you but you would need to pay extra for it. Needless to say, you can forego all of that if you had a travel garment steamer with you.

A for price, travel garment steamers don’t really cost that much. They are around $20 to $90. The more expensive ones do have more features as well as accessories that can do any type of steaming job for you. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that the more affordable ones are bad. If all you need is a simple steam and not much else then they would certainly deliver. Now, you might be wondering what sort of accessories would accompany a travel clothes steamer. Well, the most common ones would such things as a crease finisher, lint brushes and various nozzles which can be used for various kinds of garments.

These nozzles are great if you need to be careful with certain garments such as silk. These nozzles should provide ample space between the steamer and the clothing itself which should minimize the heat and friction between the two. Also, there are certain travel garment steamers that have bigger water reservoirs than others. Having a bigger one would be more convenient so that you need not refill it ever so often but of course, these are bulkier and heavier as well. There are also models that come with self-cleaning features which should help prevent the build up of minerals from the water as well as other things that might get caught in it.

So there you have it, just some of the advantages when it comes to using travel clothes steamers and why having one would certainly make being away from home more convenient with regards to making sure that your clothes look impeccable all of the time.

These days, when you purchase something, you would want to make sure that they are worth the price you paid for. Luckily, clothes steamers are multi-purpose. As a matter of fact, this handy little appliance can be used for more than just smoothing out your clothing. Shall we look into the different things that you can use your garment steamer for?

Garment steamers can be used to smooth out curtains that may have creased or wrinkled from being hung up. This should be more convenient compared to actually ironing these lengthy pieces of fabric. However, there are certain things that one must keep in mind when using a hand held steamer to smooth out curtains. The first of which would be to make sure that your curtains are made of washable materials. If it isn’t, you cannot use a steamer on it because doing so might cause the fabric to shrink. Also, do make sure that the curtain itself is free from dust. If you steam a dirty curtain, it would create a mess and potentially stain the curtain itself.

You can also use fabric steamers on your linens and bed covers as well as winter clothes that have been kept in the cabinet all summer. Not only would it help smooth out these garments and items, it would also remove any odor that they might have gotten from not being used at all. It would help freshen them up in no time.

It can also be used for upholstered furniture since these things do tend to collect moisture given enough time. The moisture might cause al sorts of things to grow inside on it that you might not be aware of so using a handheld steamer to dry it off would certainly be very beneficial.

They can also be used for cleaning and making sure that wigs are sanitary before they are worn.

It can also be used to keep your car’s upholstery clean. After all, with everyday use, it can get pretty dirty. So to make sure that everything inside your vehicle is sanitary, do make sure that you give it a pass using a hand steamer. It would dry up any moisture that your vehicle might have collected.

Fabric steamers today come in a variety of sizes and should provide you with enough options. There are the bigger ones such as those used in dry cleaners to help make their work more efficient. There are mid-sized models which are commonly found in small businesses such as those seen in tailor shops. Of course, there are also small ones which are most commonly used at home. Having a hand steamer is certainly more beneficial than one gives it credit for. As we have shown above, it can be used for a variety of purposes as well.

As soon as you recognize the appliance’s many features, you would find that there is more to it than just smoothing out your clothes. So, do consider getting one for yourself. Needless to say, it would be a worthwhile investment.

So, which one is better? When it comes to deciding between ironing and steaming, there are quite a number of things that one must consider. There are certain fabrics that do require steaming because ironing can damage them. The point is that different fabrics would require different care. It would be wise to follow garment tags in order to avoid any mistakes which could ruin your clothes. So, what sort of fabrics would require a fabric steamer? Here are some examples.

Linen is a fabric made from treated silk and is much more durable than most silk varieties. For some people, a clothes steamer would do when it comes to removing the wrinkles but there are those who choose to go wit ironing. In a way, it all depends upon your preferences. Steaming would certainly be the easier choice especially if you make use of a handheld steamer because you need not bend over the garment just to smooth it out. Ironing would also take more time and if you’re not careful, you might also end up burning the garment itself.

Silk, on the other hand, is a fabric that can burn easily. Ironing it can actually be quite troublesome and might cause unsightly distortions as well as change the texture and sheen of the fabric itself. Again, steaming would be the better option because you can simply hang your silk garment and use the steamer on it, conveniently. It would easily take out all the wrinkles and would remove any moisture on the garment. However, do make sure that you pass the steamer equally along the garment. Staying in one area for far too long can damage the silk. You don’t even need a professional steamer to accomplish this; a simple travel steamer should do the trick.

The difference between ironing and steaming clothes

An iron would press your clothes regardless of whether there’s steam or not. In other words, it would flatten your clothes and leave marks where it has been folded. For many people, this is simply unsightly. A garment steamer, on the other hand, would take out all the wrinkles on your clothes without pressing or flatting them thus allowing the garments to keep their shape. For suits, steaming is the better option and a small hand steamer is enough to get all the wrinkles out. Steamers are also safer to use because there is very little chance that you’ll end up burning yourself. Irons can get real hot if left on for even just a few minutes and if you’re not careful, you just might end up getting burnt from it.

So, which one is the better choice? Whilst some people would still prefer the old fashioned iron, the garment steamer would make for a more convenient and efficient alternative. It’s easier to use, would allow you to take the wrinkles out of the most sensitive of fabrics and can also be carried around without much trouble if you’re traveling. There are many different clothes steamer available out there; all you need to do is choose one that would suit your needs the best.

If you’ve ever considered getting a professional steamer, there is one question that you should be asking yourself. Do you actually need one? While there isn’t any doubt about the convenience of having a steamer at home, there are many different sizes available out there besides professional ones. So, how would you be able to tell if you are in need of a professional garment steamer? Here are a few things to think about.

Do you make regular trips to the dry cleaner? If you work in a professional environment where suits are the de rigueur then you might want to consider getting one for yourself. Doing so should help you save money because you need not pay the dry cleaners to steam your clothes for you.

Do you have a lot of clothing made out of sensitive material such as designer dresses? If that is the case then you should also consider getting the professional clothes steamer. Doing so would allow you to care for your clothes properly. After all, these clothes are quite expensive and are small investments in themselves thus the need to really care for them.

Do you live in a home where there are plenty of clothes to iron? Let’s face it, when it comes to getting wrinkles out of clothes nothing beats the convenience and ease of using a garment steamer. However, a small handheld steamer might not have enough power for you to finish all there is to iron. Under such circumstances, a professional garment steamer would certainly come in handy.

Professional steamers aren’t exactly commonplace household items and they can be quite big and bulky too depending upon the size of the unit that you have bought. This is another thing that you must consider. While it is as easy to use as your average clothing steamer, do note that professional units have more settings and features that you may or may not need at all. Of course, they are also more expensive and as such, you need to understand the purpose of its different features because you wouldn’t want to be paying for things that you are not going to be using at all.

Now, if you travel a lot and bring clothes with you that would require steaming, your professional unit would certainly be a disadvantage. Why? Well, it’s not like you can lug around a bulky steamer around while you travel. This is one of its major disadvantages, especially for businesspeople who are traveling all of the time. For home use, there are many different things that you can use a professional garment steamer in but your average clothes steamer would be able to handle the same things as well so it is not always necessary to opt for the professional version.

In conclusion, a person doesn’t necessarily need a professional garment steamer to be able to accomplish all that he or she has to do with regards to smoothing out clothes. A hand held steamer can be just as good for as long as you choose one that has enough power.
